Hi everyone. I have not posted anything for a while. I had a virus on my computer. I thought I would never get rid of it. Also I have been busy getting my container garden ready and planted. I have yellow squash, cucumbers, okra, tomatoes, red onions, yellow onions, white onions, garlic, eggplant and bell peppers. I used Sterilite 58 qt. storage crates for my containers. I got them on sale at Walmart for $4 each. Much cheaper than other containers of comparable size. Got my potting soil in bulk from a landscape company for $60 for a large pickup truck load. Started all my plants except tomatoes from seeds or sets. Now I am just waiting for everything to grow. I have already harvested some tomatoes because I got a few larger plants to start with. I ordered a 16 qt. Presto Pressure Canner and quart and pint jars and am waiting for them to come in. I resently heard that meat is suppose to increase in price 25% this summer so I am going to get as much as I can afford by shopping sales and I plan to can as much as I am able to. Hopefully my garden will produce enough to be able to can and dehydrate some veggies to go with my meat and chicken.
How are you preparations coming? Let us know what you are doing to prepare. If you have questions about canning or dehydrating, let me know and I will try to help you find the answers.......Sue Ann

What hobbies or interest do you have that may aid you and your family when times dictate.
My son and I want to learn to make rustic furniture and wood carving. Both might help by creating items that could be bartered or sold. Both activities require only a small investment in the way of tools and we have access to all the raw materials we will need for free. Time will tell if we have the talent to make works of art, but functionality is another matter. Do you have an interest or hobby that you coull fall back on in tough times. If not, you might want to evaluate your talents and/or interests and look into exploring that interest....Share with us your ideas and talents.
